Discovering a Remote Lakeside Campsite in Northern Minnesota
Join Kenny of All Trades as he explores an empty campsite, dry camping in northern Minnesota with his truck camper. Experience epic boondocking and camping adventures in the great outdoors! #truckcamper #boondocking #camping #truckcamping
This Week I'm taking you north into the Paul Bunyan Starte Forest. It was a great weekend. On Friday I was stressing about finding a camping spot. The forests have been so full of campers this year. I have been having a harder time than usual finding empty sites, especially along rivers and lakes. I called by friend Jack during my lunch break on Friday. He suggested heading up to Paul Bunyan State Forest and parking in a wooded pull-off. Thats exactly what I did in last week's video, and it would definitely work out, however Jack suggested taking the e bike up to a beautiful vista where a fire tower once stood. I decided to locate a few potential spots before heading up there. I was so happy I made the drive. I found 3 spots in total; the first one had signs saying no camping. That didn't make it into the video. The second spot had potential I may have to check that out some weekend. The 3rd was an absolute beauty!
Saturday was a wash. It rained most of the day. It wasn't a hard rain, just an annoying mist. I'd hear claps of thunder every once in a while, but it never turned into a soaking rain. The humidity and dew points were crazy high. The air felt so thick you could chew on it. Saturday night I wasn't feeling like eating. I was tired, wet and spent the majority of the day sweating. Thats when the true potential of the truck camper shines. I turned on the air conditioner, took a shower and spent the last few hours of the day watching UA-cam. Don't get me wrong, Saturday was still an awesome day camping on the lake. I attempted to catch some fish. I cleaned up the campsite and rebuilt the fire pit. Toby and I went on a few walks, and I really got to see the beauty of Northern Minnesota.
I hope next week I can come across another campsite just like this one. Thanks for coming along on the weeks adventure.

    Gosh the weekend goes by way too fast. You wish they lasted as long as the week- especially the long, hard ones. Toby is such good boy, entertaining himself while you're away. Another great video, so serene. For all of you wondering, I've heard through the grapevine that Kenny is an excellent fisherman and DOES catch fish. Perhaps the fish are just camera shy. Little great find on that old lantern, it having a red globe maybe it was a signal light or something of that nature. Been hearing about the crazy weather there, praying for safety. Stay safe and GOD bless

    I’m not saying I don’t believe you, but I don’t believe in Bigfoot! My mom told us that when we were lived in Central Florida back in the early 70s she would tell us when she wanted us to come in. The house at dark, she would say Bigfoot out there yeah, we were scared. We would run in the house. But I never had enough fear I guess because I was so adventurous. I would go all by myself and walk into burn or abandoned houses out in the woods, you name it didn’t really have any fear.😅 But I have a lot more fear of things happening today due to the fact that there’s so many homeless people! I think it’s just people playing jokes kidding around and all because Bigfoot obviously can’t be a person so it has to be some type of a creature. So with that being said, I don’t think creatures aregoing to throw rock people. These last probably I don’t even know how long 7-8 years for sure , have been where people wanna record for UA-cam or some social media prank.

      I agree with you. I don't believe it because I have never actually seen concrete evidence. I've had some weird stuff.Happen, but it's all explainable in the end. Maybe one day I'll have an experience that will change my mind. But for now, I love hearing about the legend and people's experiences

    Go up into the upper peninsula of Michigan down along the beautiful, beautiful lakes superior! You’ll find Petoskey stones in Agins along the water! There are so many wonderful places to see bonbon Falls and if you go up on the rifle river, you can actually canoe or two and then they’ll bring you back up to your original spot where you parked your vehicle! A lot of that is in the lower peninsula. The best Times to go up into upper Michigan are doing the summer months July and August when you start into September it gets cooler and the leaves changed quicker up there and they do in the main mitten state. You could travel the whole mitten all the way around ! All water! 😍 he knows nothing about fishing wilderness campfires all around!😅 We still wanna go out and camp and pull something out and start a little fire and just travel around different places he can go and play and do different things and yeah, one of these days when he finds out where he’d like to be that’s probably we’ll settle down some . But until then, I have nothing else to do with my life, but have fun.😁 Mosquitoes are attracted to some people for certain reasons. Whatever the chemical is that the body puts off that attracts the mosquitoes, I apparently don’t have because they don’t seem to bother me. You can purchase Eufy cameras on Amazon the basic camera you buy this little foam thing you attach it to your RV glass and then you run the long cord and plug it in. You can plug it into extension cord. And then sand into it and record 24 seven. You have to turn the infrared off and there has to be at least some type of light just outside the window like a little outdoor rv light or something that’s on because it won’t record in pitch black . It does pick up sound inside the camper and outdoors. You can put these all up on all your windows or whatever on your windshield and then just adjust it. The rag will shine off the glass so you have to turn it off. But they were great and they record right onto your SD card and then there’s an app where you set the setting and if there’s motion detected outside your Area that you have attached to the glass it’ll notify you whether it’s Wi-Fi or data, it will notify you and you could pull up the picture and look and see what’s out there. Live view. They cost about 30 bucks you have to I don’t know I don’t think they go any higher than 64 it worked, but it can cause issues. There’s a chart that tells you how many continuous recordings you can get out of a 64 SD card.. You can’t mount them outside if it’s going to rain but you could if it’s not going to rain then you can keep an eye on everything. It’s a pretty cheap price to pay in it records in color with audio, and all of that all the bells and whistles just like a ring camera.

      You are right. I do not pretend to be anything I am not. I am no bushman or survivalist. I am just a guy with a regular Monday through Friday crappy job, and I record camping videos on the weekends. I'm not a youtuber or anything like that. I'm sharing my experiences and lovecfor the outdoors. I've been doing it every weekend for over three years. I've got a hundred and fifty videos of remote camp sites around minnesota. I've probably stayed at ten or fifteen actual campsites. I started the channel almost as therapy for myself. Then people found the channel and enjoy going along with me through their televisions.

    The funny thing is, it used to be, you never feed a dog from your plate, which I believe is correct. Now days, people are so up everyone’s ass. It’s actually sickening with the new generation. Now they got you explaining yourself. Ridiculous.

      Right! I had people commenting....FEED YOUR DOG SOME F-ing FOOD!!! They were completely losing it in the comments because I didn't feed Toby off my plate. Not everyone was that obscene. Some people simply asked when I don't give Toby food off my plate...others were losing their minds!!! Sometimes, the comment section reminds me of why I look to get as far away from people as I can. It's to bad because it's such a small number. Most people are sooooo supportive of the channel. But it only takes a few to ruin my mood..

    How do you know that isn’t possible crime site?😮 Who the heck wouldn’t park right around that area where you’ve seen those trash sites. So all you gotta do is you guys jump on your bikes? Take your dogs. Lock up your vehicle and go. But guess what someone has to do is bust your window hotwire, your vehicle and they’re gone! I just hope your arms and you have an airhorn on you and some bear spray and that you know how to act access it quickly! And I would never leave my campground area with my camper open or anything I would like my doors to tight, even just to walk down and around the corner, cause you don’t know who will come out and jump and steal your stuff and be gone or even hotwire your vehicle . Even have a little crank going inside of the camper and close and lock the door so they think maybe you’re sleeping or you’re close by and be back in a moment! You just can’t trust anyone these days.! Lotta people look out in the woods and homeless people everywhere😐

      It was broken, and the front two plastic legs were snapped in half. I don't agree with leaving stuff in the woods because you plan on going back out. We are supposed to leave these spots cleaner than we find them. I've been making these videos and cleaning up trash every weekend for over 3 years. Every year, I find public lands that I once enjoyed now gated off. It happened again last week. I went to a State Recreation Forest outside of Ironton, Minnesota. It was 800 acres of beautiful trails winding around flooded mine pits. I've made 2 videos out there in the past. It was blocked off with no trespassing signs. I called the state rec office. They said it was gatted and closed because of the dumping. It's happening more and more. We should not leave anything behind! It starts with a bucket to be used as a toilet, then a fish cleaning table. Then a broken cooler and a few cans left in the fire pit....other people see that and they start leaving their ju k behind....next thing you know, gates go up and the land it considered off limits so it can repair itself. As far as a crime site...I was a police officer up here for many years. There was nothing that said a crime had taken place other than littering.

    I absolutely loved this video. I am never disappointed when I spend Tuesday with you. And yes, I did mute the commercials. Lol. I know this is off subject but I've been wanting to ask. What BTU is your AC and do you have a softstart installed? Forgive me, but I have learned some much from watching your videos that have helped prepare me for my own adventures. Thank you sir.

    • @KennyOfAllTrades
      @KennyOfAllTrades 2 години тому

      I believe my AC is the 15k, BTU. It's the 21 year old factory AC. About 8 years ago, it started to lose its cooling ability. I installed a Super Start Capacitor. I was hoping it would help take some stress off the compressor. It's not as good as a soft start. But it helps.. I found the problem was the refrigerate was running low. No shops would recharge it. They all said get a new AC. So I bought a low port tap off Ebay and some R12 refrigerate from Mexico online. It's been cooling with no problems ever since. I learned it is possible to recharge a RV air-conditioner. I haven't needed the soft soft yet. The larger capacitor did the trick. The Predator runs the AC with no problems. If I had a newer AC and the money, I would install a soft start. They really extend the life of the unit.

      @joedickerson9917 2 години тому

      @KennyOfAllTrades thank you so much for the very detailed answer. I have a smaller truck camper than yours, and my AC is 9200 BTUs. I'm having a Softstart installed next week. I'm running it now with a Honda eu2200i, but when the compressor kicks on, it shuts my TV off. I hope the Softstart will fix that. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my question. I'll be along next Tuesday.

      That was weird. I never figured out how that happened....I found out it was a commercial. A lady was saying " lipstick or keys" it's not the same voice as the commercial. And I don't know how it ended up on the video... very strange...

      @KennyOfAllTrades could be interference from a cb radio or a hand-held radio or an older cell phone.

    ❤ the video!!! I love the spot! The wild roses are amazing and smell better than the boughten varieties. 😉 we went to Harbor Frieght and got the same from truck receiver hauler for our Predator 3500..thanks again for all the inspiration 🎉, both of these camp spots are beautiful 😍 our daughter lives in Brainard and they mountain bike in Cuyuna park a lot. Toby is really getting big!! What an awesome buddy for you on your adventures. Thank you for all your hard work videoing and cleaning campsites. 💕 we go to unclaimed freight too. Lol. I love the citronella lanterns and candles. Yay! I need to get back up to Chippewa this summer, gonna do a north shore fall trip, cant wait! You need a really light weight boat just like Justin has on Destination Adventures...big enough but easy for you to handle alone launching. P.s. that scream is pretty weird..Bigfoot? Fox? Stay safe!! Hope your 4th of July is a Blast!! 😁🥳

    Love the way the trees ring the lake. What a beautiful scene. Patience is a virtue. Rain may have something to do with it. That lantern is a pretty find. Check for spiders b4 using outhouses. That lantern may not smoke up the way cheap ones do. Nothing like a good campfire to relax by. That truck that turned around may have been Corps related. Rangers often check on campers for safety. Nice feature of those campgrounds.

      You are probably right about that truck. Thanks!
